Introduction

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt course

The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt course is an advanced training program designed for professionals who want to master process improvement, waste reduction, and data-driven decision-making. This course builds on Green Belt knowledge and provides in-depth expertise in Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, statistical analysis, and leadership skills.

Participants will learn how to lead complex improvement projects, drive organizational change, and achieve sustainable efficiency gains. Through a combination of theory, practical exercises, and real-world case studies, this course equips professionals with the tools to deliver measurable business impact.

Ideal for process managers, consultants, and change leaders, the Black Belt certification demonstrates a high level of proficiency in Lean Six Sigma, making it a valuable asset for career growth and operational excellence.

We train in groups up to 12 participants. They come from all regions and branches. This often leads to valuable discussions and knowledge sharing. It is nice to see that participants are often still in contact with each other after the training.

Online learning environment ‘My Bureau Tromp’

One week before the start of the training you will get access to your personal ‘My Bureau Tromp’ online learning environment. Here you will find an overview of your courses and certificates obtained. You will also find the training material, e-learnings, exercises and templates here.

Content

Theory and Practice

We believe it is essential for Black Belts to gain practical experience. Successfully completing an improvement project is, after all, tangible proof of your competencies. However, we understand that there is not always enough time for such a project. For this reason, this training consists of both a theoretical and a practical component.

  • Theoretical Component: 10 training days for the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt theory certificate from Bureau Tromp.
  • Practical Component: Under the guidance and assessment of our (Master) Black Belt consultants, you will carry out a Lean Six Sigma improvement project. Upon completion, you will receive the globally recognized Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certificate from The Council for Six Sigma Certification (CSSC).

Content of the Theoretical Part:

In 10 training days, you will learn everything about Lean Six Sigma. We will teach you all the tools from the Lean Six Sigma toolbox, and you will actively apply them yourself. Additionally, we place extra focus on stakeholder management, coaching skills, data analysis, change management, and program management.

To support learning, we use a variety of Lean games, exercises, videos, and practical simulations. This approach helps translate theory into practice, making it immediately applicable in your work environment.

Furthermore, we will explore the future of work processes and Agile working, as Lean Six Sigma plays a significant role in the current trend of digitalization and automation.

The training is practical and interactive. Our Master Black Belt consultant/trainer shares insights from personal experience. Participants are encouraged to provide real-world examples, and discussions are sparked using thought-provoking statements. This makes the theory come to life as a real, engaging story.

At the end of the theoretical part, you will take an exam and receive an official Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certificate from us.

Communication takes place via email, phone, and in-person meetings. Throughout the process, your progress will be monitored, and your skills will be assessed based on several criteria:

  • You execute the project following the Lean Six Sigma DMAIC structure
  • You correctly apply the appropriate Lean Six Sigma tools
  • Your project delivers measurable improvements in terms of time or cost savings

With expert guidance, you will quickly and effectively apply theory to practice, achieving significant results.

You determine the level of support you need, and we are happy to assist in making this decision. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. For in between training blocks we give you a number of manageable assignments. Think of reading articles, going through e-learnings, and implementing Lean instruments in practice. This way you can already get a taste of how it’s like in practice. It is not a problem if you do get to it. However, please realise that ‘doing is the best way of learning’. When back in the training we discuss everyone’s experiences, which often lead to great stories.

The practical part is optional and can be started on your own. The average duration of a well-scoped improvement project is three months. Our consultant/trainers will of course gladly guide you through this.
